Something everyone should have next to their golf bag.

You think you know who designed which course until you pick this up and read a few pages. I received this as a gift this summer from Mr. Brian Silva during the rebuilding of our bunkers. What a history lesson. It was written by Mr. Geoffrey Cornish and Mr. Ronald Whitten and published in 1981. The best part of the book is the area called “A master list of golf courses cross-referenced to designers”. This area shows you what architect did the first design and then who has come back over the years and worked the same the ground. While you read this section it hits you in the face just how small the course design world was 30 years ago. The book is 646 pages of information and it’s something you will not want to put down. You might have to find it on amazon. Mr. Whitten please take on the challenge put together a new edition and educate us on design. I bet that the new book would be 1500 pages.
