Turfunderground Takes You To South Beach and Lincoln Road

Eric von Hofen and Lincoln Road
Over the years people just can’t get enough of South Beach and Miami. Movies like Scarface, Birdcage, Bad Boys and shows like Miami VIce, Burn Notice, CSI Miami, just to name a few, have all painted quite a picture of Miami. Some of it is true and other parts are false.  Every day, people come from around the world to vacation and spend a few days or even weeks in the South Florida sun.  Spending time on South Beach usually includes a stroll down Lincoln Road. Locals, celebrities such as the Kardashians, tourists and snow birds alike all flock to the area to shop, relax, eat and of course, to be seen.

Lincoln Road was the dream of Carl Fisher, a wealthy original developer of Miami Beach, who envisioned Lincoln Road to be the Miami Beach counterpart to Fifth Avenue in New York, or Rodeo Drive in Los Angeles. Back in the boom times of South Beach in the 1930’s, 1940’s, and 1950’s, it could match those upscale fashionable shopping districts. Today, Lincoln Road is a pedestrian mall between Alton Road and Washington Avenue. It is once again thriving as a shopping and dining area. Unique stores offer items not typically found in malls, and restaurants and cafés are common. Most restaurants offer either indoor or outdoor seating, including in the middle of the pedestrian mall area. And without question, the people watching on Lincoln Road can match any place in the world. Watch my video below to see for yourself.
