Surfing in the English Garten Munich, Germany

This is great for the 19th Hole. I have been to this spot many times in the English Garten in Munich, Germany. I have always seen at least 5 to 7 surfers hanging catching the waves of the river. Water is always cold. I have never seen any one get hurt or drink a beer while they have been surfing. Crazy. Check it out.

Nice Guy Johnny

I saw this Edward Burns movie at the Ft. Lauderdale International Film Festival and I loved it. Burns crafted his most comical film to date with the sweet, often surprising charmer, NICE GUY JOHNNY. I won’t ruin it for you and give you every detail but here is a quick overview. Johnny is a sports-talk jock on a small west coast am radio station and loves his fiance Claire. She wants him start making some real money and uses her families connections in NY to get him an job interview. He flies back to NY and meets up with his Uncle Terry(Burns) and all hell breaks loose. Terry wants Johnny to live on the edge and play the field. Terry sets up a meeting with some girls(Brooke) in the Hamptons and Johnny does not go for it. He hates his uncle and wants nothing to do with him or his lifestyle. He wants to leave and go back to the city. He loves his Claire and that is it. Turns out Claire is a pain in his ass but he still walks the straight line. Even after spending some time with Brooke in the Hamptons he is true to his Claire. Johnny now starts a tug of war with himself over what he should do with is life. The movie goes on like this until the end. This is where I stop, all I will say is that Johnny comes out on top. Great writing and camera work. The best part is that it was made for $25,000 like Burns other 1995 movie Brothers McMullen that won the best movie at Sundance that year. The movie comes out on DVD, itunes, Netflix and VOD October 26. Check it out you will like it. Here is the trailer Ed and Aaron put together for the movie.

White Fly is back in South Florida

White Fly is back again in Miami, Florida. After three years of the little pest showing up in South Florida, little natural control is being seen. The fig whitefly, Singhielle simplex, is still attacking ficus trees and hedges at an alarming rate. The winged insect belongs in the Order Hemiptera and feed on the underside of the leaves with their “needle-like” mouthparts. As you see in the picture, whiteflies seriously injure the ficus plants by sucking the juices out of them causing them to drop their leaves.

That ficus hedge in your yard doesn’t need water it needs the help of a professional. Contact a licensed landscape spray company and have them conduct a soil drench with a systemic insecticide. If you act today, you might be able to save your plants.
